An IT leadership journey from users to customers
Transform - What did I do last month that was resume-enhancing

If your job ended tomorrow, what have you done recently to enhance your resume? Scary, huh? So start to make sure you are improving monthly. Now, this can be hard, as we are all normally over -burdened with the day-to-day routine, but you need to make time to ensure you are committed to your professional growth. You also need to champion this with your team. Do they know this is a priority for you? Is it even a priority for you? If not, how could you relate this to your customers? If you are just simply cranking out the same old stuff day after day, how does it impact your boss? Would you recommend this course of action to others? Soldiering on day after day, without doing anything remarkable? Stop and write down two things that you did in the last month that enhanced your resume. If you have nothing to write, why not? Who is in charge of your career? How can you possibly hope to transition from users to customers, if you do not care enough about yourself to make your development a priority? I was taught that the first rule of saving a drowning man was to make sure they do not take you under, too. Obviously, some people, when drowning, panic and flail around in the water. If they are likely to drag you under with them, what use have you been to them? Why sacrifice your own life, if you cannot save theirs? Same is true here; how can you transform your organization, unless you are willing to transform yourself into someone proactive and self-starting?
