Now, I know you are busy, but try setting yourself three objectives for today. At the end of the day, evaluate if you achieve them. It could simply be avoiding that afternoon chocolate fix, to drink cafeteria coffee over your favorite brand (to save money), or to deal with a difficult customer or a thorny problem. You may be surprised how simply documenting these helps make you feel more accountable. Now share them with your team, not as a manager, but as a colleague, and ask them to do the same. If daily objectives do not work for you; how about weekly? Experiment with what works, because the really scary part comes next. Do it with your customers! Make sure they understand and are open, and then watch the relationship grow as your candid, open dialogue opens up doors to opportunities you never knew existed.
