Nourish Relationships - Seek out the curious minded
We spend most of our waking hours at work, right? Then we should seek to work with some of the most interesting people we know. The curious-minded will challenge you daily, introduce you to new things, not be afraid to ask why, and have a wonderful habit of cutting across the status quo. They are not content with the way things have always been, and by their habits of questioning and stimulating others to think, rather than respond, they can add a wonderful dimension to your team. They counteract responses like, “We have always done it that way!” or “Don’t rock the boat.” They do not do this in an intentionally disruptive way, but their natural curiosity gets them into interesting situations. Have you ever watched someone at a restaurant try to determine what makes a dish so good? You can literally hear the wheels spinning in his head as he tries to figure out the secret. Now, imagine someone coming onto your team and, for better or worse, trying to work out what makes your team functional or dysfunctional? A little scary, huh? But how good would it be to come out the other side armed with the knowledge you just gained? So seek out the curious-minded; who knows what doors they might open for you!
