Nourish Relationships - Partner Technology Outreach
Do you have competitors and partners in similar fields as your own? Do you believe for the most part they share the same technology struggles and headaches you do? Do you believe that you solve some problems better than they do, and vice versa? Ever thought about talking to them about it? Surely, each organization must in some way, shape or form be reinventing the wheel here. A business mentor once asked me this question over lunch, and he absolutely floored me. He pointed out that with an IT team as small as ours, how could we possibly have all the answers? And why would we not reach out to our fellow IT professionals for help? It was a “Eureka” moment. The instant I got back into the office, I told my boss, who was instantly onboard, and we started to work out how to gain access to IT departments inside our partners. After that, over conference calls, coffee and lunches, we started to share war stories in the hope of avoiding having others endure the same scars our adventures in IT had given us.
