Build Trust - Leaders Without Titles

Do you know people who are just a joy to be around? Who always take a positive attitude? Who also go above and beyond to help others, even if it is not part of their job? These are leaders without title, and you want to surround yourself with as many of them as you can find. As your teams become more and more autonomous, and have more and more career choices, you want to make sure that creativity and talent are not stifled. No one person or group of people has all the best ideas. In fact, in most cases, a team working together will generate more creative ideas than a lone genius working away on their own. Leaders without title reach across boundaries, be it departmental, organizational or cultural, to make sure the right work gets done. They cut through red tape; they rally people together and simply drive things forward. Do you know someone like that today? If so, go say “thank you” to them. Encourage them to keep doing what they are doing. By praising them and highlighting the thing it is that makes them worthy of accolades, you might just inspire others to give it a try. Everyone has the potential to be a leader without a title, if only you can motivate them to go beyond their comfort zones and try to stand out.
