Transform - Did I enable friendships in the office?
Most of us will agree that we spend more time in the office than anywhere else. If that is the case, should we not hope to be surrounded by friends? Studies have shown that people who have friends at work are more productive, they share more, are more open and genuinely look forward to going to work each day. Also, it is much easier to love what you do when you work with people you like. Transforming decades olds IT thinking is not going to happen overnight, nor is it going to be easy, so wouldn’t it be nice to have a buddy around to dust you off after a bad day? But how do you do this? Look for some commonality and then cheat; bring in lunch or breakfast. Take your team out for a couple of drinks on you. Most friendships are founded on things people have in common. So get people socializing out of their strict business roles, and just see if friendships blossom.
